An active front moves onto the North Island. 1. Rain spreads across the North Island with totals 50 to 80 mm in many places about and north of a line Taranaki to Central Plateau to Murupara (BOP). [Inland parts of BOP gets 100+ mm which could have downstream effects on the ECMT. ] Rain clears most places by evening, and east parts of BOP early Wed. 2. Northerly wind gusts 80+ km/h for many places about and north of a line from Whanganui to Murupara (BOP). 3. [Northerly waves/swell increase for BOP coast and peak at around 5 m overnight. This could affect the ECMT from about 147 km to 159 km. High tide is around 10 pm. ]
