1. Rain spreads north of the South Island. Totals reach 25+ mm for parts of MSL/MNL north of about Balclutha, including Midland line east of about Avoca. Risk of thunderstorms/downpours for Marlborough pm/evening. Risk that parts of Marlborough and Kaikoura area reach 50 mm by late. 2. Areas of rain for West Coast. A few thunderstorms/downpours likely in the Buller area with a few places reaching 25+ mm. 3. Southwest wind gusts 80+ km/h for the Kaikoura Coast and Lyttleton area by evening.
